/ Rhino 10-CD Including " Bonus Disc CD " Inside! Grateful Dead 1977 Winterland : The Complete Recordings Box Set!!!June 7th, 8th & 9th, 1977 Winterland Arena Shows in San Francisco, CA!!!! Hopefully you have this Completely! Out-of-this-Universe 10-CD set nicely & safely! Settled in your cherished Grateful Dead and Rock & Roll Music Collection... Because as many of us agreed back in 2009 - This is THE!!!
For me personally, there are two (2) major things I have learned during my nearly 30-Years and counting! On " The Bus " - that I will obviously will never forget. Two-things I will always loyally swear by : The 1st being our beloved Good Ol' Grateful Dead! And the 2nd being our beloved 1977 Good Ol' Grateful Dead!!! This year was just that-huge, at least to my ears & the ears of many die-hard Dead Fans.
It took 31-Years following this Historic & Monumental 1977-Year for it to happen considering that digital technology had to come-around, catch-up, etc. And it happened in all of the magnificent glory and then some! That you would have and could have only hoped for & expected! Not only a " Complete Recordings " release from 1977? The June 7-9 Winterland run was indeed the one selected for this fabulous occasion!! Prior to this, Dick's Picks # 29 was as close as we got - and yes, that was pretty close indeed. Well, maybe I'm even a bit biased because 5/19/77 Set II is what turned-me-on as a young kid, and naturally... There was no lookin' back from that point on! But this Winterland'77 run is a Quintessential Peak! For the Band - night, after Night, After Night! Most of us have of course heard most/all of it on analog - DAT's - clones - masters? But the mix & sound offered here is by-far superb. And believe me, I'm not always' the-one' saying that. But I really do feel that this is the case with this very-special Box Set.
Near-perfection, and that was where the Band was as a unit during the very-special Summer of'77. Just check out a few of the' footnotes' here in your Good Ol' memory-bank! - and wouldn't you too agree?? Bertha - Jack Straw - Music - Scarlet > Fire > Good Lovin' - Candyman Phase-100!!! - Estimated > He's Gone, Drums > Samson > Terrapin > DEW!!!!!!!!!
- Uncle John's - Sugaree - Passenger - Lazy Lightning > Supplication Holy Ace! - Other One > Wharf Rat > NFA > GDTRFB > Johnny B. Goode - Brokedown - Deal - Loser - Help > Slip > Franklin's!!!
- Sugar Mag - U. And that's just a little sliver offered here in typed-word - just a little' taste' of these Three (3) Glorious Live-G. I guess it's tough to top a Europe'72 73-CD box set release? An unfair fight from a disc-count perspective, obviously? But I just don't know, you know??We're talkin' about here? This one is an Absolute-Treasure! When I die, bury me deep.
Put two speakers on my feet. Put some earphones on my head.
And always play The Grateful Dead!!! Lots of'77 too, please?
